Statoil is on its way to becoming a global energy player. Although the company has a strong position in Norway, it is relatively unknown compared to the world’s largest energy companies. To raise Statoil’s profile without spending large sums on marketing, it was essential to create a distinctive brand identity built around a truly compelling story.
Shaped by nature
Statoil has been shaped by its own history and by nature. The company has learned to perform under extreme conditions, and has a culture of taking on difficult tasks where the solutions are as yet unknown.
The new logo was inspired by the starry skies of the north, which for centuries have guided those who venture out in search of new frontiers. With the magenta star as their symbol, Statoil make explicit their origins and their desire to lead the way forward within the industry.
360-degree implementation
Statoil has a 360-degree perspective on design and communication, aiming to target their audiences as efficiently as possible. In addition to basic office applications, the brand design covers everything from animation and graphics, to signage and interiors, exhibitions and work wear, as well as digital assets such as the corporate website, intranet, power point and information screens.
